Clem even says if you didn't trust Aj, "When we were in the barn you didn't listen to me. In the end, AJ actively going against Clem's wishes to "kill" her or leave her(whichever you chose) shows an incredible amount of wisdom and guts on his part. A lot of folks say he's to young to handle that responsibility. You're alive." Age no longer has relevance in an apocalypse, you're either alive or dead. Chuck said, "You ain't little, you ain't a boy or a girl, you ain't strong or smart. Lee wanted to just protect Clem and Chuck told Lee to show her how to defend herself and teach her how to survive. I did trust Aj in the cave because I remembered what Chuck told Lee in S1. And that responsibility to show him that there were Grey areas to certain situations fell on Clem(and the players) shoulders. He only knew black and white, especially when killing Marlon. But you make a good point, he was never around any other humans besides Clem and he didn't know what a Grey area was when dealing with other people. Yes, his social skills were trash when he took Aasim's book without asking and tried to take Tenn's policeman toy saying that it was his now. All of you do but I don't, I don't remember a time before monsters." Louis tries to comfort him by saying that the world before walkers was "pretty shitty" even though everyone else and the player knows that isn't true. In episode 2 when they're playing the card game after Tenn explains his feelings about the walker age going away and AJ says, "I just don't know what it's like. I haven't read the books, so their story could have gone way past 2012 for all I know. Or maybe it was skybound who didnt want the games's story to take place past the year 2012 of the comic book timeline because they had plans for it or something. Not like she being 17 stopped rule 34 of her to exist. He is way too young to be talking and thinking some of the stuff he does even when given his circumstances.īut I guess they didn't want to do it for some reason because then Clem would be 19 years old. So he was bound to have a near alien way of thinking even when compared with other survivors who were born before the apocalypse.īut I think most of AJ's writting problems could have been solved if he was at least the same age as Clem in s1. Some of his weirder behaviors make sense when you think about it though, he grew up on a completely survival driven world with almost no one to talk to other than Clem since the day he was born. But AJ is only 6 and he sometimes thinks and acts like a teenager which is not at all as a 6 year old would act. Clem was already unusually (though not impossibly) mature for an 8-9 year old. The only problem I have is that he is way too young. Clem was lighting in a bottle, but I think they did a good job with AJ. They tried to remake Clem from S1 which a terrifying challenge for any writter.
